• Re-elected McGowan Labor Government to deliver more than $29 million for community and sporting infrastructure in the northern suburbs
• $10 million for a Club Night Program to support lighting at local sports facilities
• $2 million available to grassroots sporting clubs to make facilities female friendly and boost women’s participation
• $4.2 million to support Community Neighbourhood Centres to transition into the Empowering Communities program

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will deliver more than $29 million for community and sporting infrastructure in the northern suburbs to help local residents stay active, healthy, and connected with their local community.

Recognising the vital role that sporting facilities play in local communities, a McGowan Labor Government will invest $21.7 million towards sporting infrastructure in the northern suburbs.

The Wanneroo Recreation Centre will receive $5 million for a major upgrade and extension under a McGowan Labor Government, ensuring sporting and community groups in Wanneroo have access to modern, quality facilities.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will provide $500,000 towards upgrades and expansions at the Wanneroo Amateur Football Club, allowing the club to continue to modernise and provide facilities for its growing player and spectator base.

The Sorrento Surf Life Saving Club will receive $8 million to redevelop their club facilities, allowing the development of member and community training, and supporting the club to grow.

The Craigie Leisure Centre will undergo a major overhaul, backed by a $2.9 million contribution from a re-elected McGowan Labor Government. The project includes doubling the gym floor area, extending the group fitness, wellness and cycle studios, extending the crèche, new change rooms and additional car parking.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will provide $1 million to upgrade the lighting and facilities at the homeground of the Balcatta Football Club, Grindleford Reserve. The funding will deliver a clubroom extension and upgraded lights to allow for night time training and games.

WA Labor has committed $500,000 towards upgrades at Rickman Delawney Reserve in Balcatta, including improvements to the playground and tennis courts, and a new path network with lighting to link the surrounding recreational facilities.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will fund a $2.5 million upgrade to community and sporting facilities at Heathridge Park to better meet community needs, sporting needs and an upgrade to facilities for female participation in sport.

Women’s sport will also receive a boost at HBF Arena in Joondalup, with a $520,000 investment into a new amenity block near the netball courts to cater for the thousands of women who play netball at the facility throughout the year.

A new skate park will be developed in Woodvale, supported by an $800,000 funding commitment from the McGowan Labor Government.

Community infrastructure in the northern suburbs is set for a $7.4 million boost under a re-elected McGowan Labor Government to keep local communities connected.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will invest $3 million to provide a new home for the Carramar Scout Group – the State’s second largest scout group. A new Community Scout Hall will be built in Tapping, with community use elements.

A new All Abilities/All Ages Play Space will be built in Burns Beach, with a $2.6 million funding commitment towards a cutting-edge playground facility for the northern suburbs.

WA Labor has committed $1 million to support the relocation of the Northern Suburbs Men’s Shed to a new site in Landsdale, allowing the important local organisation to continue to expand and grow.

A re-elected McGowan Government will provide $600,000 to extend the Calectasia Hall to cater for growth in its two main users - the Goollelal Greenwood Scout Group and the Greenwood Toy Library.

The McGowan Labor Government will also provide $200,000 to undertake a feasibility study for a Community Hub in the northern suburbs, as a central facility for local residents to access important services and resources.

To support the vital work of Community Neighbourhood Centres, a McGowan Labor Government will provide $4.2 million to support nine centres across the metropolitan area to transition into the Empowering Communities program – including the Whitford Family Centre and Meerilinga Young Children's Services.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will open a $10 million Club Night Light Program, a grant fund allowing local governments to apply for lighting of local sports facilities, expanding their use.

If re-elected, the Government will provide a $2 million boost to the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), making more money available to grassroots sporting clubs to make facilities female friendly and boost women’s participation in local sport.

A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will also double the Multicultural Community Grants Program Funding to $1 million annually to support local multicultural groups around the State.

The total package builds on the McGowan Labor Government’s significant investment into sport and community infrastructure through the WA Recovery Plan, which included $171 million to upgrade local community facilities across the State, and $131.6 million towards sporting facilities.

“Our $2 million boost to the CSRFF will give more Western Australian women and girls the opportunity to participate at their local sporting clubs, levelling the playfield at a grassroots level with quality female-friendly facilities.”
