  • WA Labor to deliver $45,000 to provide new playing facilities at Currambine Primary School
  • Additional half size tennis and basketball court to be constructed
  • Weather proof and shade structures to be built

A re-elected McGowan Government will deliver $45,000 to provide new playing facilities at Currambine Primary School.

With over 850 students at Currambine Primary School, it has outgrown its current sport facilities.

There are currently two basketball courts that are also used for other sports and more space is needed for students to be active.

An amount of $15,000 will be used to construct an additional half-size tennis and basketball court.

The court will provide students with better opportunities to be active and involved in team sport.

The school has also identified outdoor areas that would benefit from becoming sun-safe and rain proof.

Weather proof and shade structures will be built at a cost of $30,000.

Having all-weather structures will reinforce the school’s message to be sun safe and allow students to be comfortable outdoors during lunch and recess.

Comments attributed to Joondalup MLA Emily Hamilton:

“It’s wonderful that students of Currambine Primary School will have the opportunity to play in teams and to be outside in the fresh air through all types of weather.

“Having had my own children attend primary school locally, I am glad that projects such as this can be delivered for local schools.”

Comments attributed to Burns Beach MLA Mark Folkard:

“Currambine Primary School has a reputation of being an inclusive, engaging and positive learning environment.

“The funding will be a great benefit to all staff and students.”
